Indonesia
Is a country in Southeast Asia and Oceania between the Indian and Pacific oceans. It consists of over 17,000 islands. Indonesia is the world’s largest island country.
Despite its large population and densely populated regions, Indonesia has vast areas of wilderness that support one of the world’s highest levels of biodiversity.
Indonesia lies along the equator, and its climate tends to be relatively even year-round. Indonesia has two seasons, a wet season and a dry season, with no extremes of summer or winter.
Indonesia’s climate is almost entirely tropical, dominated by the tropical rainforest climate found in every large island of Indonesia.
Indonesia is one of Coral Triangle countries with the world’s most enormous diversity of coral reef fish, with more than 1,650 species in eastern Indonesia only.
About Diving in Indonesia
With more than 17,000 islands spread across 3,200 miles of ocean, Indonesia is not a destination that can be summed up in a few sentences. Underwater landscapes vary from region to region, ranging from prolific coral reefs and steep-sided pinnacles to sediment-covered bays best suited to macro/muck diving, and big variety of easy dive’s sites suitable for beginners. Within the expanse are areas nurturing the highest number of fish and coral species on the planet, as well as some of the sport’s most celebrated diving destinations, including Raja Ampat, Wakatobi, the Lembeh Straits and Komodo. Water temperatures across most of the archipelago range from 22 to 30, with areas to the south being a few degrees cooler.
Anything, everything in a diver’s wildest imagination and even far beyond it resides in the waters of this immense Southeast Asian country. Indonesia is smack dab in the heart of the Coral Triangle, the name dive professionals and marine biologists have bestowed upon the region of the Pacific Ocean where the planet’s greatest biodiversity lies. The number of marine wildlife species here are thousands, with startling new discoveries being made each year. In fact, about a quarter of all the world’s fish species and almost one-fifth of its total of corals can be found in Indonesia.
